Conscious Chemist, a beauty brand, has made headlines by securing an undisclosed amount in a bridge funding round from early-stage investor Inflection Point Ventures (IPV). 

As per the brand, the fresh capital infusion will enable it to expand product categories and improve its brand presence. Further, the fresh infusion will enable the startup to establish offline retail stores.

It’s noteworthy that the development comes a little less than two years after cosmetics firm Lotus Herbals Pvt. Ltd acquired a 25% stake in Conscious Chemist in January 2022. 

Conscious Chemist | Clean Beauty Brand

Founded by Robin Gupta and Prakher Mathur in 2019, Conscious Chemist is a clean beauty brand offering a range of functional & effective biocompatible skincare products. 

As per the brand, which has a portfolio of 29 products, its products are made from non-toxic formulations. Operated by Era Botanics Pvt. Ltd, Conscious Chemist claims to sell around 25,000 units each month across India.  

Speaking about the development, Robin Gupta, Co-founder and CEO of Conscious Chemist, highlighted that the partnership with IPV will allow the beauty brand to execute its business plan, also enabling the brand to grow more than 50% quarter-on-quarter at a healthy EBITDA level. 

Gupta added the startup will double down on its digital footprint with penetration into online marketplaces while improving its offline channels.

Commenting on the development, Ivy Chin, Partner, Inflection Point Ventures, highlighted the changing consumer behaviour concerning beauty and skincare products in the last three to five years.  

Chin added,

“The emergence of influencers and celebrities sharing their beauty regimen has only accelerated the narrative around clean and sustainable beauty products, and Conscious Chemist has carved out the right niche in it.”

This funding round marks the third investment by IPV in November. Last week, the early-stage investor led the pre-Series A funding round of the D2C dairy and breakfast essentials brand Happy Nature, which the startup plans to use for branding, developing its technology stack, and processing plant upgrades.

Earlier this month, IPV led the $1.15 million (Rs 9.6 crore) seed funding round of FroGo, a New Delhi-based frozen food product & distribution startup in India. The same month, the firm invested in Euphoric Beverages Pvt Ltd, which operates O’ Be Cocktails, a Bengaluru-based ready-to-drink cocktail brand.
