With $500K Funding, Campsite Discovery Platform Exoticamp Sets Sight on Safety Enhancements and Expanding Camping Destinations

Camping experiences discovery platform Exoticamp has raised $500,000 (around Rs 4 crore) in its first funding round from a group of early-stage investors. 

As per the startup, the freshly raised funds will be used to scale its operations and improve safety measures at campsites. Additionally, part of the raised funds will be used to create exclusive and captivating camping locations and improve its tech stack.

Anil Kumar Karusala (promoter of formulations firm Sai Parenterals), Mediamint founder Aditya Vuchi’s family office, Harsh Dugar (Executive director of Federal Bank), and some senior employees of Spark Capital are among the investors that invested in the startup.

The funding round also saw participation from a few other non-resident Indians and high net-worth Individuals.

Founded by Vijay Premnath and Swaminathan Subramanian, Exoticamp is a camping experiences discovery platform that enables people to discover and book verified private campsites & glamping stays across India. 

Speaking about the development, Vijay Premnath and Swaminathan, co-founders of Exoticamp, said, 

“This capital infusion will allow us to scale our operations, expand our portfolio with more destinations, and elevate the overall experience for our customers.”

Safe & Easy Camping

The platform offers inclusive camping experiences in private natural settings with all the necessary camping gear. Making camping safe & easy in India, the campsite discovery platform also curates some local activities in the experience, including such as farm walks, bird watching, stargazing, and short hikes. As per the startup, it has, so far, hosted over 20,000 campers.

This week, several Indian startups across categories have raised funds. Recently, ethnic clothing brand Dressfolk raised $396,420 (Rs 3.3 crore) in a seed funding round to improve its product portfolio, expand distribution channels, and expand its team and operations. Also, Answer Genomics, a healthtech startup offering genome-based health solutions, raised $500,000 (Rs 4.16 crore) in a pre-Series A round to support its sales and marketing initiatives and to hire talent.
