How Ranchi-Based Startup ‘SafEarth’ Is Accelerating The World’s Transition To Renewable Energy
Cleantech and renewable energy sector are among those sectors that are going to flourish in the future.
With increasing economic growth, Government initiatives & regulations, and heavy investments & developments in the sector, the future seems bright.
Posting a CAGR of 17.33% between FY16–20, installed renewable power generation capacity has gained pace over the past few years. Backed by various Government initiatives and improved economics, the sector has become attractive from the investors perspective.
Presently, the Cleantech and renewable energy sector are in their nascent stage and facing issues like installation and developmental cost, reliability of renewable sources reliable, etc.
And to provide several systemic defects within the renewable energy sector, two friends started a startup named ‘SafEarth’.
Working to accelerate the world’s transition to renewable energy, SafEarth claims to be the only clean energy platform that combines all the aspects of a project lifecycle on a single platform.
Startup Story: SafEarth | Accelerating The World’s Transition To Renewable Energy
SafEarth Founder
Started in 2017 by Harshit Poddar and Anuvrat Saboo, SafEarth is a Ranchi-based clean energy startup that is working with a vision to accelerate the world’s transition to renewable energy.
The online marketplace reduces the costs, time and hassles involved with shifting to solar power and helps businesses in transforming their energy footprints by making a shift to clean, renewable energy.
How SafEarth Started?
While studying together at RV College of Engineering (Bengaluru) in 2014, the founders realised that the prices of renewable power fall below the conventional fossil fuel power.
This became a critical point for the co-founders in their journey of sustainability and saving the planet.
Because of the realisation, the duo decided to work in the clean energy sector and joined a renewable energy startup to understand the space better.
After spending some time and knowing about the sector, they saw several systemic defects within the renewable energy sector.
As per them, the systemic defects were stopping the industry from reaching its true potential.
Talking about the tipping point that led the inception of SafEarth, Harshit says,
“We felt that this industry needed a new, more customer-centric approach, and only then could it scale up and save the world. We decided that the only way to do that would be to build a company, which would operate as the world’s go-to clean energy platform that solves the problems consumers face when adopting clean power.”
So, following a customer-centric approach to become the world’s go-to clean energy platform, Harshit Poddar and Anuvrat Saboo started SafEarth in 2017.
USP Of SafEarth
SafEarth operates an online SaaS platform that consists of three modules- SafEarth Project Marketplace, SafEarth Project Management Tool and B2B eCommerce platform.
The clean energy startup brings solar power users, manufacturers of components, financiers, and execution companies of a renewable energy project online.
SafEarth also provides consumers with the best-quality solar plants at a lower cost, and with the required tools to manage the same.
Adding to the benefits, Co-founder Harshit Poddar claims,
“In the process, we can reduce the cost of the project by nearly seven to 10%, time consumption by 40 to 50%, and errors to an absolute zero.”
Bringing customers and vendors together, SafEarth claims to be the only clean energy platform that combines all the aspects of a project lifecycle on a single platform.
Present Situation Of SafEarth
Working with 20 employees, SafEarth has generated healthy operating margins year-on-year.
The startup has over 50 revenue-generating solar projects in India across states, including Rajasthan, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Karnataka, and in metros like Bengaluru and Delhi.
While generating stable, well-paying jobs in remote parts of India, SafEarth has been able to save over 50,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
Talking about the startup, Anuvrat says,
“Today, our platform has facilitated a net investment of over Rs 100 crore into renewable energy projects in India. The platform is used by some of the leading corporates in the country, including Toyota, Golcha Associated, Graphite India, and the CK Birla Group.”
Future Plans Of SafEarth
Working with a vision to accelerate the world’s transition to clean power, SafEarth aims to create a platform that provides global consumers with the right tools and information.
The tools and information will help them and manage their renewable energy assets.
SafEarth also plans to raise funding next year.
