Zipdate Private Limited, the operator of the dating platform Meet7, has raised $300,000 in a seed funding round. The funding round saw participation from Z1N Capital, Narendra Murkumbi, and Suhas Chandak.

As per the startup, the freshly raised funds will be used to scale up from the current proof of concept stage and add more features to the product to make it even safer for women. 

Meet7 | Speed-dating App

Co-founded by Amit Pandey and Saurabh Awasthi, Meet7 is a dating app that uses deep learning technology to give its members a safer online experience and stop problems like fraudulent profiles, catfishing, and cyberbullying.

Speaking about the development, Saurabh Awasthi, Co-founder of Meet7, said,

“India has no dating app which caters to our sensibilities. Meet7 is changing that. The rigorous verification, where everyone is verified, the no-swipe matches, and our guided approach especially helps in our culture where people are not able to express romantic feelings appropriately. This combined with a near 50-50 gender ratio, makes our app one of the most desirable apps to be on.”

The dating app prioritizes better user interactions and quality matches over endless swiping. It uses cutting-edge deep learning technology to match users based on what they say, not just what they do.

Meet7 has a social referral feature and live video interaction, ensuring a safe and genuine dating experience for its users. As per the startup, it presently has 60,000 users. It aims to reach a million users over the next 12 months.

Commenting on the development, Nikhil Agarwal from Z1N Capital said,

“India is the second largest revenue market and the fastest growing online dating market in the world. In the US, more than 40% of the people in relationships met online. There is no reason why this will not happen in India as well, but the right approach is required. We think the team at Meet7 has all credentials and expertise to deliver a Bharat-sensitive dating app.”
