Better Opinions Raises $2.5 Million Funding From Metaplanet VC, Others
Better Opinions, an event trading platform, has raised $2.5 million (about Rs 20 crore) in a seed funding round from a clutch of investors, including Metaplanet VC and Goldwater Capital.
The funding round also saw participation from YCombinator, Taurus VC, Original Capital, and other angel investors.
As per the startup, the raised funds will be used for building and expanding the product and tech team towards marketing and user growth. It also plans to build a social platform where users can trade and engage.
Better Opinions | Trade On Events
Founded by Soumyajit Das and Samay Jain in 2021, Better Opinions is a Gurugram-based startup that operates in the prediction market space. The app allows users to trade their opinions with real money on events in various categories like cricket, cryptocurrency, politics and entertainment.
Speaking on the development, Samay Jain, Co-founder and CEO of Better Opinions, said,
“We have so far seen an excited user base, who are eager to trade and invest in our platform, and their demand for more events and categories is a testament to the potential of our product. Our vision from here is therefore not only to create a stock market of opinions and make trading accessible to all, but to build a social platform where our users can trade and engage.”
As per the startup, its Real Money Gaming App “RMG App”, which was launched in December last year, has over 600,000 users, covering more than 14,000 events.
Meta (formerly Facebook), which had previously invested in social commerce Meesho in 2019 and online learning platform Unacademy in 2020, is also planning to invest in Better Opinions, as per TechCrunch.
In February 2022, Better Opinions raised over $1 million in a pre-seed round to build and expand the product and tech team, grow the existing user base and educate the users about events trading.
