SaaS Firm Hatica Raises Funding From Sequoia’s Surge, Others

Hatica, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) startup, has raised seed funding of $3.7 million (Rs 30.56 crore) led by Sequoia Capital India’s accelerator programme Surge. 

Existing investor Kae Capital, with Akshay Kothari (Notion), Apurva Dalal (Twitter), Punit Soni (Google) and Pratyus Patnaik (Okta), among others, also participated in the funding round.

As per the startup, the freshly raised funds will be used for geographical expansion and hiring.

Founded by former Uber executives Naomi Chopra and Haritabh Singh in 2020, Hatica is an analytics platform that enables engineering leaders to improve team productivity, effectiveness, and well-being.

It connects with workplace tools to provide actionable insights into team activity, efforts, and outcomes.  

Speaking about the development, Naomi Chopra, Co-founder of Hatica, said,

“We aim to build Hatica as the daily landing app for every engineering leader to get to the heart of what they can do to help their engineers do their best work.”

It equips engineering leaders, managers and software developers with software development dashboards alongside team productivity and workflow insights, helping them drive team effectiveness, alignment and well-being. The San Francisco and Gurugram-based SaaS platform claims to assist over 20,000 engineering developers to scale up their experience and productivity. 

In January 2022, Hatica raised $900,000 (around Rs 6 crore) in a pre-seed funding round led by Kae Capital, with participation from Titan Capital, iSeed Ventures, and angel investor GBS Bindra (CEO of Charmboard).

An initiative by Sequoia India, Surge provides founders with access to capital, community, company-building support and cross-border experience they need to launch or accelerate their company. The initiative is focused on early-stage startups in India and Southeast Asia and provides up to $3 million of seed capital along with company-building workshops and mentor-based support to the companies.  

Last month, it participated in the $11 million Series A funding round of logistics startup Locad and the $16 million Series A funding round of the business-to-business (B2B) wholesale platform Apnaklub.
