Esports Startup Gamerji Raises $3 Mn In Pre-Series A Funding
Gamerji, an E-sports tournament platform, has raised $3 million in a pre-Series A funding round from GVFL (formerly Gujarat Venture Finance Limited) and existing investor Unicorn India Ventures.
As per the startup, the raised funds will be used to grow the platform in international markets, including West Asia and North Africa, where it launched recently. The Ahmedabad-based startup also plans to enter the Southeast Asia market, starting with Indonesia and the Philippines.
Additionally, a part of the raised funds will go towards developing tech solutions to enhance the online gaming experience.

Founded by Soham Thacker in 2019, a serial entrepreneur who previously also launched Fixpocket and FantasyJi startups, Gamerji is an eSports tournament platform that lets gamers compete, share content, host matches, build their gaming profile and win prizes.
Speaking about the development, Soham Thacker, CEO and Founder of Gamerji, said,
“Gamerji has had a head start, and we have already launched in the Middle East. We are also in the process of rolling out in newer geographies, and fresh infusion of capital will help us meet our growth targets ahead of timelines.”
Including this round, Gamerji has raised a total of $5 million in funding.
The eSports tournament platform has grown from 1 million to over 4 million users in the last 12 months. Currently, Gamerji hosts more than 400 tournaments a day across 22 titles, including BGMI, Free Fire Max, Call of Duty Mobile, Clash Royale, and CS:GO, among others.
Commenting on the development, Kamal Bansal, Managing Director at GVFL, said,
“Gaming is one of the fastest-growing industries in India, with mobile gaming dominating the sector, accounting for more than 90% of it. Together, we aim to help them expand their footprint and digital presence across the globe.”
Since its launch in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, the startup has added over 100,000 gamers in the region. It plans to build a large user base in the growing gaming sector in India and cater to cross-border tournaments in other regions.
As per a report by Lumikai, a gaming-focused venture firm, the gaming segment is projected to reach $8.6 billion in FY27. This year, several gaming startups have raised funds, including Driffle, Lysto, CloudFeather Games and The Gaming Project.
