Indian Funding news

Powerplay, an end to end construction and architecture project management app, has raised $5.2 million in funding led by Accel Partners and Sequoia’s Surge. The funding round also saw participation from India Quotient and Snapdeal founders.

As per the startup, it will utilise the new funding for building a world-class team and product improvements to digitise the industry, one step at a time.

The deal was first reported a few months back, but the details were not clear.

Started by Iesh Dixit and Shubham Goyal, Powerplay is a Bengaluru-based construction management app. The app simplifies end to end construction and architecture project management, helping companies that are not satisfied with unprofessional ways of communication like WhatsApp.

Using the Powerplay app, contractors can chart their project completion progress and also track employee attendance, budgeting and invoicing, as well as issues and material management.

Speaking on the development, Iesh Dixit, Founder and CEO of Powerplay, said,

“Powerplay comes at a time when the construction industry in India is ripe for digital disruption. By empowering construction workers and contractors with technology, we are driving the growth of crucial infrastructure required for economic and social progress in the country.”

As per the founder, the app, which is available on Android and iOS, is currently used by over 35,000 contractors across 800 Indian cities. With more than 200 hours reportedly saved each week by contractors, the app has been used for managing over 5,000+ projects.
