Report: Indian Laundry Market Expected To Reach $15 Billion By 2025
According to management consultancy RedSeer Consulting, the Indian Laundry Market, including both business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) categories, is expected to grow up to $15 billion by 2025 from $11.3 billion in 2019. The B2C segment is currently dominating the Indian laundry market, capturing almost 88% of the market.
Speaking on the development, Kanishka Mohan, Associate partner at RedSeer, said,
“Laundry is a daily and never-ending chore in almost every household. While there is immense scope for easing up the customer’s life through outsourcing, there is a critical mindset shift required to capture market share. Internationally, Laundry services are innovating across various customer touch-points to simplify laundry.”
As per the management consultancy firm, the B2B laundry market includes laundry activities done by businesses from hospitality and healthcare industries either in-house or by outsourcing them to laundry service providers. These laundry activities include washing and ironing bed sheets, towels, among others.
On the other hand, the B2C laundry market includes laundry activities like washing and ironing clothes done at the household level or with the help of a laundry service provider (unorganized or organized), added the management consultancy firm.
The report also provided three important factors that will drive the growth of online laundry penetration in the near future- 1. increasing base of online transacting users, 2. consistent growth in investments in the space, and 3. customer mind space for a laundry brand.
With only a handful of serious players, more than 100 startups have come up in the laundry segment in the last five years, but only 20 startups are currently seed-funded, added RedSeer.
