Piyush Goyal: 28K Startups Have Been Registered Under The Startup India Program

Launched in 2016, The Startup India program has turned out to be one of the successful programs by the Indian government in the past five years.

The benefits for the startups under this scheme are tax exemptions, funding opportunities, etc.

And as per Piyush Goyal (Commerce Minister), 28K startups have been registered under this scheme (Stated on February 6).

During the Rajya Sabha session, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in response to a question said that the Department For The Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has recognized 27,916 startups, as on February 1, 2020.

And 800 Out of the total 27,916 startups belong to Rajasthan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that the Indian Startup Ecosystem will be the main contributor to help India achieve the target of $5 Trillion Economy.

PM Modi said,

“Your innovation, aspiration, and application of technology will fuel this dream of $5 Tn economies. It has become the bedrock of India’s big leap into the most competitive economy.”
