In a bid to help micro-entrepreneurs, Union MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari urged eCommerce giant Amazon to list products from small businesses separately on its platform and help them market their goods globally.

Calling it a win-win situation for parties involved, Nitin Gadkari said,

“I would request you, if it is possible, to find out a solution for MSMEs. With your international exposure, if you can plan product designing and giving new vision, awareness, product development to all entrepreneurs, regarding what global companies want…it is a win-win situation. It will increase your turnover and help Indian economy.”

The minister also highlighted that the MSME sector is a major job creator and backbone of the Indian economy and accounts for 30% of India’s growth and about 48% of the country’s exports.

Nitin Gadkari also acknowledged that though the quality of products created by MSMEs is good but more expertise is needed in design and packaging.

Amit Agarwal, senior VP and country head of Amazon India, said MSMEs are the backbone of the Indian economy.
He also said that by digitizing MSMEs, the company is contributing towards boosting exports and job creation that will empower the inclusive economic growth of India.
