Indian SpaceTech Startup ‘Skyroot Aerospace’ Successfully Test-Fires Upper-Stage Rocket Engine
Hyderabad-based SpaceTech startup Skyroot Aerospace has successfully tested an upper-stage rocket engine, Raman, named after Nobel laureate CV Raman.
With this, Skyroot Aerospace became the first Indian private company to build a homegrown rocket engine. The engine Raman has fewer parts and weighs lesser than a conventional rocket engine.
Backed by Curefit founders Mukesh Bansal and Ankit Nagori, Skyroot Aerospace is an Indian space tech startup and was founded by Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka (former engineers of the rocket design centre of ISRO) in 2018.
Talking about future plans of the company, Naga Bharath Daka said,
“Skyroot has completed multiple test firings to qualify our solid propellant formulation. We have developed in house software for launch vehicle guidance, navigation, and control functions and testing for onboard avionics modules is in progress. We are targeting our first launch in December 2021.”
