Edtech Decacorn BYJU’S Acquires Great Learning And Toppr

Startups Acquired By BYJU'S
Indian Startup News

Bengaluru-based edtech decacorn BYJU’S has acquired two edtech startups- Toppr and Great Learning, taking the total number of its acquisitions this year to six.

The acquisition of these two startups will further cement BYJU’S dominance in the Indian edtech sector. While the acquisition of Great Learning adds entirely different business – upskilling for working professionals – for BYJU’S, Toppr will strengthen its existing dominance in the K-12 segment.

Recently, BYJU’S acquired Epic, a US-based digital reading platform for children aged 12 and under, for $500 million. And now, with the acquisition of Toppr and Great Learning, the total number of startups acquired by BYJU’S reaches 15.

Great Learning is a bootstrapped edtech startup offering career-relevant programs from world-class universities in the most in-demand domains. The startup offers programs in Data Science, Analytics, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, AI, Machine Learning, and Digital Business.

Toppr helps students prepare for various school, board, and competitive exams. Valued at around $60 million during a funding round in February 2018, the startup claims to be providing the widest K12 syllabus coverage with 1 million course combinations. Additionally, Toppr claims to have 35 million monthly active users and 2 million daily active users on its platform.
