Ecommerce Platforms Can Now Deliver Non-Essentials Across The Country

Impacted by COVID-19 lockdown, e-commerce platforms are now allowed to deliver non-essential products across the country, except in containment zones.

Depending upon the on-ground condition, many states are yet to take the final call on allowing businesses to function.

Several states like Delhi, Punjab, Kerala, Tamil Nadu among others supported the guidelines and allowed the delivery of non-essentials via e-commerce, though e-commerce activities will continue to be restricted to essential products in the critical containment zones throughout the nation.

Talking about the allowance of the delivery of non-essentials to all places outside containment zones, an Amazon spokesperson said,

“This will give a fillip to the 6 lakh retailers and MSMEs on our marketplace and help revive economic activity more broadly. We remain committed as always to ensuring the safety of our customers and our employees while creating business and employment opportunity.”

On the same, a Flipkart spokesperson said.

“We will continue to work in accordance with the directives from the government and local authorities while serving customers, sellers through our safe supply chain.”
