Bengaluru-based AgriTech startup BigHaat has raised over $2 million in pre-Series A funding round.

The funding round also saw participation from Rockstud Capital, Ankur Capital (BigHaat’s existing investor), and some angel investors.

As per the startup, it plans to use the capital to scale its data and technology, and it is going to be hiring across various departments in its business. The startup also aims to engage over 10 million farmers across India over the next 24 months.

Founded by Sachin Nandwana and Sateesh Nukala in 2015, BigHaat is on a mission to empower every farmer so that they can achieve more productivity, yield, and income.

BigHaat claims to be India’s largest Agri Inputs Marketplace Platform providing a wide choice of quality inputs to farmers at their doorstep.

Talking about the present agriculture ecosystem, Sateesh Nukala, Founder and CEO of BigHaat, said,

“The traditional agri-inputs supply-chain is a broken experience, causing financial distress for the farmer. Technology can address this serious problem and transform a farmer’s pre-harvest journey into a profitable one.”

BigHaat currently engages over 3 million farmers across India on its digital platform. The startup not only provides farmers with omnichannel access to advisory and products but offers vernacular advisory for rural users in multiple regional languages.
