Microsoft looking to invest $100 million In sharechat

Tech giant Microsoft is looking to invest around $100 million in Indian social media platform ShareChat.

As per reports from Mint, the investment from Microsoft will be around one-third of what ShareChat is looking to raise in the latest funding round.

In the last funding round, ShareChat had raised $100 million from Twitter, at $650 million valuation. And if the deal finalizes, ShareChat could join the list of Indian unicorn startups.

This development comes at a time when Microsoft is looking to acquire the short video-sharing app TikTok’s operations in the US and a few other markets from China’s ByteDance.

Also, as per a recent report from the Financial Times, Microsoft is looking to acquire TikTok’s services in India and Europe.

And if the Microsoft deal doesn’t materialize, then Bytedance could sell the Indian business to “foreign investors or Indian buyers.
