ConsCent, a content monetisation platform, has raised $1.75 million (about Rs 14 crore) in a funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures.

The funding round also saw participation from early-stage funds Varanium Capital, AngelList, SucSEED Innovation Fund, Sigurd Ventures, PitchRight Ventures, and angels like Quess Corp’s Vijay Sivaram, former Rivigo Co-founder Gazal Kalra and others.

As per the startup, the raised funds will be used to hire technology talents and expand the sales and marketing team. Part of the funds will also be used to invest in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tools for developing in-house technology for content monetisation.

Founded by former journalists Sunny Sen and Sounak Mitra, ConsCent empowers digital-only publishers, legacy media companies, and OTT platforms to build a sustainable user-generated revenue stream. The startup provides a complete micropayment to subscriptions stack with analytics and engagement tools to content companies.  

Speaking on the development, Sunny Sen, co-founder of ConsCent, said,

“We will expand our technology team and launch over 15 new products and features over the next 12 months in the areas of payments, engagement and retention, and design. We are also developing an entirely new AI/ML-based personalisation engine to ensure the highest level of content affinity for each content consumer.”

With its integrated and interoperable payments and user management solution, ConsCent helps companies get more paying users and convert them over time into long-term subscribers, and manage their renewals.

Presently, ConsCent provides technology to Outlook India Group (Outlook India and Outlook Business), MidDay, India Today Group (India Today, Cosmopolitan, and Business Today), Indian Retailer, Amar Ujala, Udayavani, Amar Chitra Katha, Tinkle Comics, EPIC On, and New Indian Express.
