Started by Madhavi Jadhav and Nishant Neeraj in 2020, ThatMate is a social startup focused on the sexual education and mental health of teens globally.
ThatMate is leveraging tech and a classroom-based approach to bridge the sexual and mental health awareness gap and helps them make informed choices as they grow up. The startup’s Android app acts as a friend that hears teens. The app then guides them through issues like self-image concerns, peer pressure, puberty, relationships, and stress, among others.
Speaking about the app, Nishant Neeraj, Co-founder and CTO of ThatMate, said,
“The app thoughtfully imparts knowledge through interactive comic books, gamified user journeys, knowledge quizzes, and age-appropriate unlocks based on the user’s behavioural insights.”
The Pune-based startup claims to have gained significant traction across India. ThatMate has partnered with the Jharkhand government and UNICEF to help six lakh students in the state.
