WEGoT Utility Solutions, an Internet of Things(IoT) based startup focused on water management solutions, has raised $1.5 million (around Rs 11 crore) in strategic funding led by multiple investors, including GRUHAS Proptech LLP.

Other investors that participated in the funding round include Nikhil Kamath of Zerodha, Rahul Talwar of the DLF Family Office, and Harshad Reddy of the Apollo Hospitals Family. WEGoT’s existing investors HDFC Capital Advisory Ltd, and the CEO of Prestige Group, Venkat K. Narayana, also participated in the funding round.

The startup plans to use the raised funds to strengthen its team, expand its footprint across India, and enhance existing product capabilities. Additionally, WEGoT Utility Solutions is also planning to hire across teams.

Founded by Vijay Krishna, Abilash Haridass, Sundeep Donthamshetty, Mohamed Mohideen, and Selvakumar AB in 2015, WEGoT Utility Solutions is a Chennai-based startup that has developed a convenient platform integrating all 3 resources (Water, Electricity and Gas) and helps each household measure, manage and conserve these critical resources from their fingertips.

The startup is bridging the gap between water utility management and the end-user. WEGoT has created VenAqua, a sensor-based IoT device and a software platform that can be connected to water inlet pipes. Using the app, users can effectively monitor, control and modify their water consumption based on their usage insights.

As per the Chennai-based startup, it has implemented over 1 lakh smart devices across 30,000 homes and over 40 million square feet of commercial real estate, adding that it has the visibility to scale to 10 lakh devices in the next 12 months. Prestige Group, Godrej Properties, Brigade Group Mahindra World City, and Brookfield are some of the clients of WEGoT.
