EV Startup Earth Energy Is Offering World-Class Mobility Vehicles To Disrupt The EV Segment
Backed by innovation and the need for clean energy sources, the Electric Vehicle (EV) segment has gathered momentum in recent years.
With the rising trend in the number of startups in the EV space in India, the segment is getting a lot of traction.
As per a report by Avendus Capital, Electric Vehicles (EVs) in India could represent an $8 billion opportunity by 2025.
Today’s story is about an Indian EV Startup, Earth Energy, that caters to the needs of Indian consumers who are price-sensitive and also wish for world-class mobility vehicles for daily commuting on highways and traffic-induced roads.
Startup Story: Earth Energy | Made In India Smart Efficient Electric Vehicles
Earth Energy Founder
Founded by Rushi Shenghani in 2017, Earth Energy is building smart, affordable and easily adoptable electric vehicles for consumers & businesses.
Rushi has a diploma in mechanical engineering from Mumbai University and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pune.
Before founding Earth energy, the 25-year-old entrepreneur started his first startup Ideasplatform.in at a very young age.
IdeasPlatform was a crowdfunding platform for new and innovative ideas for students and professionals alike.
After that, in 2015, Rushi started his second venture ReviewSabKuch, which was a reviewing website for an array of products, ranging from electronic gadgets to books, to popular software and mobile applications.
How Earth Energy Started?
Being bitten by the entrepreneurial bug, the 25-year-old entrepreneur founded two startups, Ideasplatform.in and ReviewSabKuch, before starting Earth Energy.
Since his childhood, Rushi Shenghani has been passionate about designing and developing vehicles from scratch.
Driven by the tremendous zeal towards the electric vehicle industry, Rushi began his current venture, Earth Energy, from a room in his college hostel.
Before starting Earth Energy, Rushi spent three years understanding the nuances of the EV industry, its business models, and product development techniques.
And in 2017, Rushi Shenghani founded Earth Energy to build smart, affordable and easily adoptable electric vehicles for consumers & businesses.
USP Of Earth Energy
As per Rushi, the vehicles offered by the startup caters to the needs of Indian consumers who are price-sensitive and also wish for world-class mobility vehicles for daily commuting on highways and traffic-induced roads.
Earth Energy’s mission aligns well with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat as the country enters the new era of green mobility.
The electric vehicle company manufactures a wide array of power solutions and components for its electric vehicles in-house, making 96% localised EVs.
Rushi says,
“We are 96 percent localised on our BoM (Bill of Material) level. The only components currently being imported are cells for the battery pack that we make in-house. Our battery management system is designed from scratch and is being produced by a domestic Automotive Tier-I OEM vendor in India. The cells for the light EVs, like scooters, come from a reliable cell producer from China, and those for heavy EVs like motorcycles and LCVs, come from LG/Samsung Korea.”
Earth Energy’s vehicles come with a default in-built app for smartphones, helping riders to keep live navigation status, current destination on-screen, incoming calls/messages alert, and trip history.
The in-built app also allows a third-party usage model for food delivery agents, and the entire order mapping can be easily done on the display screen itself.
Present Situation Of Earth Energy
Presently, the Mumbai-based EV startup has a team of 27 experts working on different aspects of brand building.
Recently, in February 2021, the startup launched three electric two-wheelers – GLYDE +, EVOLVE R and EVOLVE X – for the Indian market at a virtual event.
Earth Energy has also set up a 7,000 sq ft R&D setup in Vasai, Mumbai, for production, and the EV startup also produces Li-on battery packs in-house.
The electric two-wheelers will also soon be available on India’s first hybrid e-distribution platform, buyEv.in.
Rushi says,
“Our strategy to produce battery packs locally turned out to be a great money saver for consumers as prices of vehicles reduced by at least 18-20 percent.”
Future Plans of Earth Energy
The startup is focussing on geographical expansion and is expanding from West to South India.
Rushi says,
“We have initiated sales from Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Alibaug, Vadodara, Surat, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu via select dealerships.”
The founder is also very positive about the range of vehicles offered by the startup.
Speaking about the products offered by the startup, Rushi says,
“Our entire product line is manufactured in India by Indians, which provides us with an advantage to sell our products at a very disruptive rate. Our entire range is definitely going to be a game-changer for the EV fraternity.”
