Edtech Startup Filo Raises $23 Million In Series A Funding Round

Filo, an instant live tutoring startup, has raised $23 million in Series A funding, which is reportedly the largest Series A round in the Indian edtech space.
Led by Anthos Capital, the funding round also saw participation from existing investor Better Capital along with GSV, Sapling Capital, and a host of well-known individual investors, including Gokul Rajaram, Mate Pencz and Florian Hagenbuch (Founders, Loft), Rob Frohwein (Co-founder, Kabbage), and Ross Lipson (Co-founder, Dutchie).
As per the startup, the funding will be used for product development as the startup goes deeper into modelling pedagogy at scale, expanding the team, tapping new categories, and scaling its tutor base across the country.

Founded by serial entrepreneurs Imbesat Ahmad, Shadman Anwer, and Rohit Kumar, Filo is an on-demand tutoring platform that connects students with India’s top 1% tutors in less than 60 seconds, any time during the day and night. Students get exclusive access to 1-1 personalised learning sessions through live video and voice calls. Every session is designed keeping in mind the learning capabilities and style of individual students.

Filo is present in more than 15 countries and has over 40,000+ tutors on the platform, which is by far the largest pool of tutors in the world. As per the 24X7 live edtech platform, in almost a year, it has grown to more than 1.5 million downloads and more than 350,000 monthly active users, along with overwhelming student reviews.
The platform now plans to onboard over 200,000 tutors across India and conduct 2 million live classes every day in the next 12 months.
