COVID-19 Impact: Lockdown Has Caused A Decrease In UPI Transactions
Due to the lockdown In India, UPI transactions saw a decline, in both value and volume, for the month of March.
A total of 1.33 billion UPI transactions were made in February (worth ₹2.22 lakh crore).
In March, the number decreased and a total of 1.25 billion UPI transactions were processed by NPCI. These transactions amounted to Rs. 2.06 lakh crore, which is a 6% fall in volume and a 7% slump in value as compared to February.
Restrictions, due to the COVID-19, have resulted in a decrease in traffic (in March) in almost every digital channel operated by NPCI like FASTag, Aadhaar-Enabled Payment System, and IMPS.
