Bengaluru-Based Startup Trell Raises $4 Million in Funding
Trell has raised $4 million in a pre-Series A funding round. The funding round was led by Sequoia Capital India’s Surge, Fozun RZ Capital, and KTB Network.
Trell is a Bengaluru-based startup that enables users (Indians) to share and find personalized recommendations and product reviews around interests such as movie and web-show reviews, cooking, skincare, personal grooming, fashion, wellness, etc.
On the platform, regional influencers (called as Key Opinion Leaders) are sharing localized, and related content in 5 languages: Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, and English.
Talking about the platform and KOL’s, Pulkit Agrawal, Co-Founder of Trell said,
“We actively engage with our KOLs through the ‘Trell Creators’ Academy’ programme, where currently 25,000 creators are being educated every day to create valuable content, grow their reach, become influencers, and eventually solve the scarcity of regional content.”
As per the company, it will use the funds to strengthen its technology, acquire talent, and grow the community. Trell is also planning to add content in 10 regional languages to penetrate deeper into emerging Tier 2, Tier 3 markets in India.
Presently, Trell has 5 million monthly active users, and over 15 million downloads on its app. As per claims made by Trell, the platform has grown 20x in the last 12 months.
