Udemy raises $50 Million (Rs. 360.05 Crore) in funding from Benesse Holdings
Udemy, an online learning platform has raised $50 Million (Rs. 360.05 Crore) in funding from a single investor, Benesse Holdings.
The funding deal values Udemy at a US $2 billion pre-money valuation and as per company statement,
The company plans to further invest in markets around the world and will expand its San Francisco headquarters as well as grow its offices in Denver, Colorado; Dublin, Ireland; Gurugram, India; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Ankara, Turkey.
Udemy CEO, Gregg Coccari talked about the plans of the company and said that the year 2020 will be a milestone year where the company aims to serve more students and empower thousands of businesses and governments to upskill their employees.
Talking about the relationships between Udemy and Benesse Holdings, Tamotsu Adachi, Representative Director, President, and CEO of Benesse Holdings said,
“This investment is the next progression in our business relationship and demonstrates our confidence in what we can accomplish together.”
Udemy presently offers 150,000 different online learning courses and has 10 million+ installs on Google Play Store.
