Rural Commerce Startup Rozana Raises $22.5 Mn Funding, To Expand Its Warehousing and Logistics Operations

Rozana, a New Delhi-based rural commerce startup, has made headlines by raising $22.5 Mn (about Rs 186.5 crore ) in a fresh funding round led by Bertelsmann India Investments. The funding round also saw participation from Fireside Ventures and its existing investors.

As per the startup, the freshly raised funds will be used to expand its warehousing and logistics operations into new districts. The raised funds will enable the startup to improve its technology platform and strengthen its team across technology, product, and operations.

Founded by Ankur Dahiya, Adwait Vikram Singh, Mukesh Christopher, and Prithvi Pal Singh in 2021, Rozana is a New Delhi-based startup that runs an e-commerce platform and logistics network focused exclusively on rural India. Leveraging tech and data science to cater to unique local demands, the New Delhi-based startup operates in about 12,000 villages across 13 districts in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

With its network of about 18,000 last-mile partners comprising village residents, about 90% of them being women, the startup is not only empowering the end consumer but also working towards assisting over 10 million tech micro-entrepreneurs nationwide.

As per Ankur Dahiya, Co-founder and CEO of Rozana, with this funding round, the startup will continue building out its logistics and supply chain infrastructure to reach new districts and empower rural communities with access to essential products.

Commenting on the development, Rohit Sood, Partner at Bertelsmann India Investments, highlighted that the opportunity in rural India is greatly underappreciated. While stating Rozana’s team is the ideal one to unlock this opportunity, Sood added,

Rozana enables micro-entrepreneurs to give wider, innovative, and competitive offerings to end users with its platform that helps them onboard customers, share the latest deals, and help them place online orders, making last-mile delivery efficient.

The New Delhi-based startup will also be working with Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal’s startup xto10x, which is a consulting platform for growth-stage companies. This partnership will enable the startup to focus on aspects such as warehouse design, technology, last-mile delivery, and launching new product categories.
