Veera, a rewards-powered internet browser, has made headlines by securing $6 million in a seed-funding round led by Ayon Capital, a Florida-based single-family office. A host of investors, including institutions and angels – Folius Ventures, 6th Man Ventures, The Operating Group, and iSeed Ventures, also participated in the funding round.

As per the startup, the freshly raised funds will enable it to expand its engineering team to accelerate product development, enhance infrastructure, and invest in marketing initiatives.

Founded by Arjun Ghose, along with co-founder Rahul Pagidipati, Veera is a mobile-focused browser built to give users a faster, safer, and more private internet experience.

In September 2023, Veera launched its mobile-only internet browser, entirely developed in India, with tailored content and ad-blocking services. Since then, the browser has crossed 100,000 users, Ghose stated, adding that the startup also launched an engagement-driven rewards programme to incentivize user loyalty and engagement on the platform using gamification.

Speaking about the development, Arjun Ghose, Founder of Veera, highlighted that the overwhelming response from users following the introduction of its rewards program and the launch of its super-fast browser has reinforced the need for a product like Veera in India.

Talking about browser as a distribution platform, Ghose added,

“What better distribution platform than a browser, an application that almost all of us, irrespective of socioeconomic status, open every day and spend immense amounts of time on it? It just hasn’t been leveraged to be a distribution or discoverability platform. That is the gap or opportunity we saw.”

The startup aims to continue innovating and delivering value to its users, as this solidifies Veera’s position as the preferred browser for Indian internet users.

This round was led by Ayon Capital, which is an investor in Vested Finance – an online platform that enables Indian investors to invest in the US stock market. It has also backed Brave, a privacy-focused internet browser built by a team that had previously built Firefox.
