Lorien Finance, an education loan provider, has raised seed funding of $1.8 million (around Rs 14.8 crore) led by Venture Catalysts.

TSM Ventures and a host of angel investors, including Kunal Shah (Cred), Suhail Sameer (Ex-BharatPe), Aman Gupta and Sameer Mehta (boAt), among others, also participated in the funding round.

As per the startup, the raised funds will be used for geographical expansion and to boost the product stack. The startup plans to expand its services across Southeast Asia, South America and Africa.

Founded by Nikhil Mudgal in 2021, Lorien Finance is a fintech platform providing affordable student loans & retail banking to Indian students looking to pursue education in the US. The fintech platform claims to offer education loans at lower and collateral-free interest rates as low as 8.5%.
