IIT-Hyderabad Launches Semiconductor Startup Incubation and Acceleration Programme
Fabless Chip Design Incubator (FabCI), IIT Hyderabad and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) have collaborated with Dutch semiconductor manufacturer NXP to launch the maiden ‘Semiconductor Startup Incubation and Acceleration Programme.’
The programme aims to find, facilitate, and mentor semiconductor and IP design startups across India.
As part of the Semiconductor Startup Incubation and Acceleration Programme, up to five promising startups will be incubated for a period of two years in each cohort every year. The participants will include semiconductor chip design, IP design, and design services startups with an IP focus and chip design tool related startups.
Speaking on the collaboration, Prof BS Murty, Director at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, said,
“FabCI is a unique incubator that provides free access to highly expensive EDA tools and prototyping, apart from the basic infrastructure. With the advent of Atmanirbhar Bharat, more number of start-ups are expected to come up across the various segments of the technology and incubators like FabCI with the support of technology experts like NXP will strengthen the start-up ecosystem in the semiconductor industries.”
The press release stated that shortlisted startups for the core program will get benefits accruing up to Rs 1 crore per year, per startup.
Startups will also be provided with EDA Tool Access for design and simulations, mentoring access during design and development phase, selective IP Access for processor or interconnect aspects, foundry/packaging Access, characterization lab access, Demo day visibility with NXP.
