Content Sharing App SuperShare Raises $6.5 Million Funding
SuperShare, a content-sharing app, has raised $6.5 million in a Series A funding round from Lachy Groom, Accel India, and Lightspeed. Content creator Tanmay Bhat, MythPat, and several others from influencer management agencies across India, also participated in the funding round.
The startup, which has so far been operating in stealth mode, will use the funds towards developing its product, among other things.
SuperShare | Content Sharing App
Started by Sagar Modi and Advaith Vishwanath in 2019, SuperShare is a content-sharing app that rewards and recognizes people who share content. It is the second product of its parent company Quiph Media.
Currently, SuperShare is working in stealth with a few chosen creators in an invite-only programme. The startup will open up access in the next few months.
Speaking on the development, Sagar Modi, Co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of SuperShare, said,
“We are building the best way to share content. Sharing content is a huge part of our lives on the internet, and with the ever-changing landscape on social media and the rising prominence of chat/community apps, we believe there is an opportunity to increase intimacy and efficiency in the way we share content.”
The content creator economy has grown by leaps and bounds over the last two years. With the disruption caused by the pandemic, when most of the people were locked in their homes consuming large chunks of content online, creators across digital platforms were creating content and getting millions of views on their videos.
As a result, several entrepreneurs saw an opportunity in the segment, giving rise to many platforms. Moj, Roposo and Josh, among others, are a few startups that operate in the video-sharing segment.
Currently valued at $11.6 Bn, India’s video market is likely to grow to $18 bn by 2026, growing at a CAGR of 9.5% by 2026, as per a report.
