This Startup From Chandigarh Is Helping Home Bakers By Providing Them With Visibility, Reach And Business

Cake has become the staple item of every occasion no matter how big or small it is.

Be it a marriage anniversary, birthday or any other family get together, nothing is complete without a cake.

That is why the baking industry in India has grown a lot and was worth $8 billion in 2019

And as per many reports, the baking industry in India is expected to grow exponentially.

But what is fueling to this growth nowadays is the presence of many home bakers.

Baking from the comforts of their home, these home bakers often find it difficult to compete with established commercial bakeries as they lack means to reach a wider audience.

Solving these issues and providing home bakers with more sources to get business, a couple created a platform for home bakers.

The platform helps home bakers by providing them with visibility, reach and business.

Today’s startup story is about Cakenest, a platform for home bakers and buyers.

Startup Story: Cakenest | Nest Of All Home Bakers

Cakenest-Nest For Home Bakers

Cakenest Founders

This Chandigarh-based platform for home bakers was founded by Nitin Sharma (IT Professional) and his wife Nitika Sharma (a chartered accountant) in 2019.

How Cakenest Started?

The idea of Cakenest came when the couple saw the challenges faced by home bakers, including low reach and business, despite having good offerings.

“Almost 98% of home bakers in India are women. In their aim to be independent and self-sufficient, women are honing their talents in baking and working from their homes. They make use of basic ingredients and equipment and work their magic to create delicious desserts,” said Nitika.

The duo analysed the issues and decided to help them out.

The founders started small, but they started with a vision to help home bakers gain visibility, reach, and business.

Initially, they started on Instagram and Facebook at the end of 2018. And, after seeing increased traction, Cakenest launched the website and registered the company in August 2019.

USP Of Cakenest

As per the startup, their USP lies in providing a complete solution to a home baker so that they can concentrate on just baking.

Within years, Cakenest has evolved itself into a holistic and conclusive platform, where users can search for home bakers, bakery classes, bakery supplies, party decorators, photographers & much more.

Any home baker can easily register itself on the Cakenest platform on a quarterly or yearly subscription.

Once registered, the startup helps home bakers generate more business by setting up their business presence online on social media platforms.

Cakenest has over 1.9 lakh followers on Instagram and 3,200+ followers on Facebook. And, because of this huge following, each Cakenest baker has access to thousands of viewers,

Not just home bakers, but Cakenest also helps buyers by acting as an on-demand homemade customised cake delivery platform.
