Mentza, an Audio-based conversational learning startup, has raised $400,000 in a seed funding round led by angel investment platform Inflection Point Ventures

The startup plans to utilise the raised funds for building a healthy base of experts and curious learners and efficient translation of conversations into content. Additionally, the startup aims to utilise the funds to broad base the platform regionally and across interest communities.

Mentza is an audio-based conversational learning platform engaging users through high quality and focussed 20-minute conversations across diverse topics. On the platform, conversations are recorded with features like highlights, 40-second snippets, and curated content recommendations.

Mentza has already generated over 60,000 minutes of content and currently has over 23,000 registered users.

Speaking on the development, Anurag Vaish, Founder of Mentza, said,

The Audio-based conversational learning startup has recently announced creator partnerships with Rolling Stones and Harper Collins. Additionally, the startup is in talks with MICA faculty and students to engage them on the platform.

With their app free to use for all, Mentza is building both B2B and B2C use cases where users can build a portfolio of recorded conversations with highlights and snippets. The initial focus of the startup is to attract users (creators and listeners) from Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

The Indian audio format content market is at an inflection point. India is the third-largest consumer of podcasts (after the US and China), with 57.6 million monthly listenersas per PwC’s Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2020 report. Recently, Sochcast, an immersive on-demand content hub for hosting, redistribution, and monetisation of audio, raised an undisclosed amount in angel funding.
